I have made things by hand for as long as I can remember. Card-making came first — seriously from 2008 — and I have been writing about it at Multiplicity Crafts since 2013, designing for stamp companies and teaching on video.

Portraits came out of that. The same patience a card takes, given to a face somebody misses.

I work mostly in graphite, one layer at a time, from the photographs you send. Some pieces began as gifts for friends and family; others were asked for. Every one of them started with a photograph and somebody who missed a face.

I film a good deal of it. If you would like to see how a portrait is built before you ask for one, the drawings are on my channel — a schnauzer, a cocker spaniel, a poodle, a cat, a horse — from the first outline to the last dark.

I live with my husband and our daughter. I am a Christian, and a few pieces here carry words that matter to me.
