What the site is for

It shows finished work, explains how to ask for a piece, and lets you write to us. Anything shown here is an invitation to enquire, not an offer that binds us until we have confirmed it in writing.

What you agree not to do

• Copy, download in bulk, scrape, or republish any part of the site or the work shown on it, except as Copyright & Image Use allows.
• Use anything here to train, fine-tune, or evaluate a machine-learning or artificial-intelligence system.
• Send anything unlawful, abusive, deceptive, or that you do not have the right to send.
• Attempt to break, overload, probe, or gain access to any part of the site you were not given.
• Pretend to be someone else, or use the site to mislead anyone.

What you send us

You keep ownership of anything you send. By sending it you confirm that you own it or have permission to send it, and that using it as this site describes breaks nobody’s rights.

You give Maranda Mathis permission to use what you send for the purpose you sent it — to answer you, and to carry out any work you asked for. Nothing more, unless you say so.

Prices and availability

Where a price is shown it may change without notice, and a piece may already be gone. Obvious errors may be corrected, and an order may be declined, before anything is charged. A quote is what binds us, not a figure on a page.

Links to other places

Some links lead to sites we do not run, including retailers where a book of ours is sold. What happens there is governed by their terms and their privacy policy, not ours, and we are not responsible for it.

No promises about the site itself

The site is offered as it is. We do not promise it will always be available, free of errors, or fit for any particular purpose of yours. Colours on a screen differ from colours on paper, and an image of a drawing is not the drawing.

What we are responsible for

We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or any loss that was not foreseeable.

Where we are responsible, the total we owe you for anything connected with the site or an order is limited to the amount you paid us for that order, or one hundred dollars if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits anything that cannot lawfully be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for your rights as a consumer.

Putting things right

If you break these terms and that costs us something — a claim from someone else, for instance — you agree to cover what it reasonably costs us to deal with it.

Ending your use of the site

We may withdraw access from anyone using the site in a way these terms forbid. The sections on what you send us, copyright, responsibility, and governing law survive.

The rest

If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still stands. Not enforcing something once does not mean giving it up. These terms, with the documents they link to, are the whole agreement between us about the site.
